Recently, the UofL School of Nursing honored the legacy of our predecessor, the Louisville General Hospital School of Nursing. Note the photo, circa 1920, just after serving and surviving the 1919 influenza epidemic. Also note the photo below, in just a few short months difference, these photos depict our students amidst another epidemic – COVID 19. Our Owensboro Extension, below, exemplifies our commitment to serving and surviving the current epidemic. Masked up and socially distanced, they found a way to capture a bit of history for their 3rd semester cohort. Cardinal Nurses reflect 1920 care, commitment, resiliency, and critical thinking in a 2020 world - today’s nurse: “High Tech, High Touch, and High Impact”. The quote is from President Neeli Bendapudi as she discussed the difference in what it means to be a nurse, today.
